14 DAY TRIAL // Antec has just announced the release of three new EarthWatts power supplies with Wattages ranging from 450 to 650 Watts that are all certified by the 80PLUS organization to offer Platinum-level energy efficiency.
This means that these power supplies can deliver up to 94% power efficiency at 50% of their power rating, without dipping below 89% in any other circumstance.
As far as the specifications of these EarthWatts power supply units are concerned, Antec has fitted them with a maximum of four 12V rails, each one of these being able to deliver up to 30 Amps of current on its own.
Users can connect a wide number of devices to Antec's PSUs, since these include two 8-pin (6+2) PCI Express connectors, six SATA plugs, four MOLEX plugs, as well as one 5V floppy connector.
Furthermore, all the units come with a full suite of industrial-grade protection circuitry, including over current protection (OCP), over voltage protection (OVP), short circuit protection (SCP), and over power protection (OPP), to name just a few.
All three EarthWatts Platinum power supply units are cooled by a 120mm double ball bearing fan that Antec says provides quiet operation under all circumstances.
"The 80 PLUS Platinum certified power supplies have so far only been available in higher wattage classes and not for the everyday gamer," said Mafalda Cogliani, global marketing director at Antec.

The Antec EarthWatts Platinum power supply series is available right now in the US and Canada from various online, as well as brick and mortar retailers. Prices start at $109.95 (84.5 EUR) for the 450 Watt unit and top at $129.95 (100 EUR) for the 650W unit.
