Earlier this year, Antec, one of the leading makers of computer chassis, showcased a unique and somehow odd-looking computer chassis prototype. With a very suggestive name, the Skeleton, Antec's design came to bring a totally new perspective to the way a desktop computer chassis should look. Although it's been a while since the company first introduced the unique chassis, now, the time has come for Antec to officially unveil the Skeleton.

“PC gamers and build your own enthusiasts are always looking for the latest high-performance components, including high usability and unique designs,” said Scott Richards, senior vice president for Antec. “The Skeleton is the latest example of the commitment we have to offer usable, affordable products that perfectly balance functionality with a unique and bold appearance. The cooling capacities and top-notch convenience features will help PC users to build a very special system. We're excited to be the first company to launch an open air PC case.”

The first time you set your eyes on the new case from Antec, it will certainly get your attention and arouse your curiosity, although it might not actually make you want it for your desktop computer rig. As a matter of fact, the Skeleton has actually been build for those power users out there that keep most of their hardware components outside the computer case, or within reach. For them, the Skeleton has been featured with an open frame and a top mounted 250mm TriCool multi-color LED Fan that is set to guarantee a high cooling effect for even the highest performance desktop systems.

In addition, some of the chassis' features allow for a better cable management and overall easier system installation. The enclosure measures 3''(H) x 14.8''(W) x 16.5''(D), and can fit Mini ITX, Micro ATX and Standard ATX motherboards. The design supports two 5.25-inch and two 3.5-inch drive bays, as well as four optional 3.5-inch side panel-mounting plates and, furthermore, users can install up to three 11-inch graphics cards.

As regards pricing, Antec said that the Skeleton would be available in retail for approximately $189.95, and is backed by the company’s 3-year warranty.
