At this year's Computex show

Antec, one of the leading manufacturers of computer chassis and enclosures, is among the participants at this year's Computex show, held in Taipei, Taiwan. Attendants at the company's booth at Computex will be able to see the newly released prototype, a computer case which looks more like a furniture product than as an actual platform for a computer system.

The "wow factor" of the name of the case is only surpassed by its totally futuristic design. The Skeleton prototype comes with an open air case design, which lets your system's motherboard completely out in the open, placed on the upper level of the "chassis." Below the motherboard tray, there's just enough room to fit in a decent power supply, optical drive and a hard drive. On top of the chassis, there's a 250mm fan, which not only fits perfectly in the outrageous design, but also offers a technical and performance function. The fan is obviously meant to provide your system with the necessary cooling factor, being placed exactly on top of the mobo.

Antec has come up with some impressive case designs in the past as well, which proved to be the right choice for high-end computer systems capable of running the latest games. With this new design, Antec plans to change the way a computer looks and to make it more house-friendly, so it can fit right next to the user's futuristic furniture. At the moment, there's now official word on the pricing of this prototype but the final version based on it is expected to be available sometime in September this year.

Antec hasn't been much of an outrageous-looking case designer, the company being more oriented towards creating products that can provide a strong platform for a well built computer. With the Skeleton, it might just change the computer users' perspective on desktop chassis design.
