Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary Edition will probably not be one of the best selling hits of the fall launch season but the developers working on the game are sure that long term fans of the franchise will appreciate the new title and the remake will show how much the original changed the gaming world.

Dan Ayoub, who is the executive producer working on the remake of Halo: Combat Evolved at 343 Industries, has told VG247 that, “Why are we doing this game now? November 15 is the tenth anniversary of the birth of this franchise, and the fans have been asking for this game for a tremendously long time.”

He believes that there's a large number of players who have been waiting to see what Microsoft will do on the tenth anniversary of the first Halo game and the team is making sure that the remake is true to the original while adding a new gameplay dimension.

Ayoub added, “The core goal of this game is to relive the experience of what it was like to play Halo ten years ago. Everyone remembers the first time they played Halo because it was such a magical, unique experience. It was a game that felt like no other, and it really inspired ten years of console shooters.”

The Halo: Combat Evolved remake will allow the development team at 343 Industries to show that it can work on the franchise and that it can replicate the feeling that Bungie has delivered when it was in charge.

The developer is also working on a new original Halo game which is set to be launched exclusively on the Xbox 360 during 2012.

The game will star Master Chief and his companion Cortana and, while information has been sparse, it seems that they will be confronting a new threat, separate from the Covenant.
