We already know that Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary is set to offer support for stereoscopic 3D technology but it seems that the developers at 343 Industries and Saber Interactive are also changing some of the graphics of the game in order to improve the overall gameplay experience.

Speaking to Gamasutra during PAX Prime Frank O'Connor, who is one of the leaders of 343 Industries, has stated, “For example, '343 Guilty Spark' had a lot of fog, and people associate that fog with broodiness, mood, terror as the Flood came out. But one of the realities is that yes, the fog was there for all those reasons, but it was also in there as a performance saver, as fog used to be.”

The developer says that there are also more changes mode, all of them set to make the game world look better and make the game easier to understand for first time players.

O'Connor added, "'The Library' is another good example. It had this big pillar in the center which was put in, again, to occlude objects so you don't have to draw every enemy in the game. We took this opportunity to re-light the level, so stuff with the textures, and some of the effects to make it much more navigable.”

The original Halo: Combat Evolved was one of the video games that re-defined the shooter space and created mechanics, like rechargeable health, that have become common place in the genre since then.

343 Industries is also working on Halo 4, a full on sequel that will be launched during next year and will apparently be the start of a new trilogy set in the same game universe.

Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary is set to be launched on November 15 of this year exclusively on the Xbox 360 home gaming console from Microsoft.
