Rovio, the developer behind the popular Angry Birds franchise has recently previewed the latest product from its lineup, Angry Birds Magic.

Launched at WIMA, the global conference and exhibition exclusively dedicated to NFC technology, Angry Birds Magic introduces a new concept of multiplayer that allows players to use NFC to play the game with their friends.

The new game contains twenty new levels, but only the first five levels can be completed in the old-fashioned way. To unlock the next five levels players will have to find a friend that is actively playing the game and owns an NFC-enabled mobile phone.

A second friend is required to unlock the next five levels, while a third friend will unlock the last five levels of the game.

However, there's another way to unlock all these levels that require players to find others with NFC-enabled phones to play with. This can be done by using NFC tag.

Rovio stated that the locations of these NFC tags will be found by following certain clues to be revealed “in due time.”

Angry Birds Magic will come pre-installed on the Nokia C7, as part of the Symbian Anna update, but it will also be included on all Nokia's NFC-enabled devices in 2011.

“With Angry Birds Magic, friends can group together to combat the pig menace, in a new take on the game that so many people all over the world have fallen love with,” said Mikael Hed from Rovio.

“This is an exclusive offering with the Nokia C7, a smartphone that really kicks off the NFC experience for developers. In time, the communal power of users with Angry Birds Magic could prove even stronger than the Mighty Eagle.”

The final version of Angry Birds Magic will feature more levels and will be available for download from the Ovi Store at a later date.
