New poster bears little resemblance to the actress

Angelina Jolie is making a comeback to action movies this summer, with the spy thriller slash action flick “Salt,” as we also informed you a while back. A new poster for the film has just been released and, though this is a project that can boast as lead one of the most beautiful women in the world (if not actually the most beautiful), it makes little use of this fact, as E! Online also notes.

Admittedly, as anyone can see with their own eyes, this is Angelina Jolie as Evelyn Salt. The problem is, this looks more like a cartoon or hand-drawn version of the actress, which can only be the result of someone tampering too much with the original image. It’s a shame actually that such drastic, digital, altering treatments are given to someone who has such gorgeous features, for, like her or not, like her movies or not, there is no denying that Angelina is a stunning woman.

E! also makes the same point, albeit with less delicacy. “The tagline on this new movie poster may read ‘Who is Salt?’ but a better question would be: ‘Where is Angelina Jolie?’ Because we just don’t see her here. Yes, the woman certainly looks like the film’s star and, for the sake of argument, we’ll assume that it is. But seriously, what’s going on with her face? This seems like yet another example of Photoshopping gone horribly wrong. It’s one thing to erase a pimple or minimize a wrinkle, but is it really necessary to go to this extreme on an otherwise pretty flawless mug?” the e-zine rants.

Gossip blogger Perez Hilton is even more vehement in expressing his dissatisfaction and utter disgust in how the image was altered. “Who’s Salt? WHERE'S ANGIE??? What the airbrushing is going on here??? The latest poster for Angelina Jolie’s new flick Salt has replaced Angie with some creepy copycat-lady! Bleck! Honestly, the woman is flawless! Completely unnecessary!” he writes.

Of course, this is not the first time that the entire blogosphere goes up in arms over the treatment a beautiful actress receives in a movie poster. Last time people were so vocal about it was when Jessica Alba was made almost unrecognizable on one of the posters for “Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer.”
