This is just a temporary, unofficial workaround

Although Android 5.1.1 Lollipop for Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge was meant to fix some of the issues owners have been complaining about since launch, as well as bring new features and improvements into the mix, it looks like the update has created more issues.

As many of you, Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge owners, probably know by now if you have already upgraded to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, this update mistakenly removes some quick toggles in the notification area.

For example, both smartphones are missing the mobile data and hotspot toggles, but only the Galaxy S6 edge also lacks the private mode after the update, AndroidPolice reports.

The good news is Samsung has already acknowledged the issue and is already working on a fix, but there's no telling when it will arrive.

It's also worth mentioning that for the time being it's unclear why this is happening, and it looks like some Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge devices might be missing completely different toggles than the ones mentioned earlier.

Perform a factory reset or install some APK files

The only solution offered by Samsung is for users to back up their data and then perform a factory reset of the smartphone. While that will certainly bring back all the toggles, they might disappear again after a while.

Luckily, there's a more permanent fix available, but it's not official and it requires you to install certain APK files on your Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge devices.

XDA forum member NimeniAltu has already published some modified APKs that when installed re-enable the missing toggles: Wi-Fi hotspot, private mode and mobile data.

Installing these APKs does not require your phones to be rooted, but there's no way to tell what they contain, so if you do this, you do it at your own risk.
