Andrew Garfield says Spider-Man suit is “tight” but “airy” at the same time
Andrew Garfield says Spider-Man suit is “tight” but “airy” at the same time

Since the entire “Spider-Man” film franchise is getting an overhaul with actor Andrew Garfield as the lead, it’s to be expected for the same to happen to the costume of our favorite superhero.

Extra caught up with Garfield at the DVD launch of “The Social Network,” in which he plays Eduardo Saverin, and tried to get him talking more about a recent report of how the suit represented a challenge for producers.

As we also noted a while back, word got out that the suit had undergone some changes and was now more “high-tech” but producers still had issues with the crotch area, which they didn’t want to be too prominent.

If this is accurate, Garfield is not saying, as the video below will confirm. He will say though a few things about the suit, namely that it’s “tight” and “airy” at the same time, having been made from a material that better allows air through.

As any Spidey respectable fan must know, one of the biggest complaints former Spider-Man Tobey Maguire had about the suit was that, while it looked incredibly cool on camera, it was a nightmare to be in, because it would get too hot.

In the same talk with Extra, Garfield shows himself more generous with details about his co-star Emma Stone, who is playing Gwen Stacy, Peter Parker’s love interest before Mary Jane.

“I really do like Emma, she’s a pretty special actress and a pretty special person,” Garfield says of his co-star. Pictures of the two on the set of “Spider-Man” leaked online last week.

“One of the funnier people and one of the more fun loving people I know. I’m so glad that she’s there on set. It’s really fun,” Andrew further says.

“Spider-Man” the reboot is in production since December 2010, and has been scheduled for a July 2012 release in the US.
