The rumors surrounding a possible High Definition iteration of the much loved PlayStation 2 titles developed by Team Ico, Shadow of the Colossus and ICO, may be true after all. Amazon France's website states that a Team Ico Collection will be released on the PlayStation 3 in June 2011 and will be priced at 70 Euro.

What is known is that Team ICO had such a possibility in mind. Kotaku reported a while ago that the creator of the series, Fumito Ueda, said, “I do have an interest in that. Next week, I'll have a meeting [about the possibility] ... But it might not be so easy, because, with both titles we really stretched the limits of the PS2. It's complex. So it's not such an easy transfer to the PS3. But I want to discuss it.”

After the success of the HD God of War collection that was launched before God of War III, Sony seems to have decided to re-release multiple HD versions of PlayStation 2 classic games. A Sly Cooper collection in HD was announced during Sony's E3 2010 press briefing. Joystiq reports the European packaging for the Sly Collection boasts a Classic HD brand on the box, pointing out that there may be more in store for the PlayStation 2 fans that own a PlayStation 3.

Sony has not given an official word about this, but there have been hints of such a plan. Joystiq also contacted Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, which replied that “‘Classics HD,’ is the name given to any older game that has been adapted to be in HD, with trophy support to be played on PS3. The only examples of these games so far are the God of War Collection and the recently announced Sly HD Collection.” Furthermore, a recent survey of PlayStation 3 owners asked if they would wish to see classic PlayStation games released in High Definition.
