Despite earlier reports that actor Patrick Swayze’s condition had reached such a stage that he and his family had decided continuing with the “useless” cancer treatment no longer had a purpose, a recent photo shows that the star is not yet ready to give up the fight. Swayze has gained weight, has grown some of his hair back on and is looking healthier and in better condition than he has looked in months, The Mirror says.

Swayze, it seems, has been on a new radiotherapy technique called CyberKnife that targets well-hidden tumors and does not damage as much healthy tissue. The treatment is already registering great results, with many patients also suffering from pancreatic cancer saying they are actually hoping for “a cure,” as reports in the media have it. For what it’s worth, in the actor’s case, it seems that the new treatment has at least helped him gain some weight.

“‘Dirty Dancing’ star Patrick Swayze appeared to be winning his battle with pancreatic cancer when he was snapped visiting a fast-food restaurant in LA with his brother. The actor – who has finished a course of chemotherapy – had put on weight and was sporting a new goatee beard. Swayze, 56, was virtually unrecognizable from earlier this summer when he looked painfully thin and weak. But it is clear he is still taking medication for the disease as he was clutching a bag containing tubes which went under his shirt.” The Mirror writes.

Other reports in the media have it that Swayze was also all smiles as he enjoyed a couple of cigarettes outside the fast-food joint. As noted above as well, the latest photo comes in sharp contrast with pics snapped back in April, when his frail appearance and the clear disillusion in his eyes prompted supporters and representatives of the media to estimate he would not live longer.

As a matter of fact, in May, reports began to circulate that the actor was actually on his deathbed, having given up the fight, which immediately became reports of his death. The actor was prompted to make public a photo from his personal album, saying that he was neither dead nor giving up, and that he continued to respond to the treatment. From the looks of it, he still does respond well to it.
