Japanese-Swedish mobile phone maker Sony Erricsson is reportedly gearing up for the launch of a new Android-based smartphone in its Xperia family, one that leaked previously under the name of Xperia X12 ANZU, and which might have just got its full specifications brought to the light.

Some of the previous reports on the new device suggested that we might see it being launched on shelves sometime in the first half of the next year.

Nothing was confirmed on the matter for the time being, but many details on the new device started to emerge, and chances are that it would soon be unveiled in an official manner, though that might actually happen only next year at CES or MWC.

In the meantime, we should take a look at the supposedly leaked specs for this handset, which are as appealing as they can be.

According to a recent article on the Unofficial Xperia X10 Blog, the handset should come to the market with a 4.2-inch multi-touch display, capable of delivering a 854 x 480 pixel resolution.

Moreover, we should expect for the new smartphone to pack an 8-megapixel photo snapper with Exmor R sensor and 720p HD video recording capabilities.

A MSM7230 Snapdragon chipset (using the Adreno 205 GPU) is also expected to be included into the mix, as well as a 1500mAh battery, and, of course, Google's Android Gingerbread operating system.

Here's the full specs list that leaked on the new device:

- 8.1 MP AF with Exmor R (16x Digital Zoom, HD Video recording (720p/30fps) w stereo audio recording support, Pulsed LED, Face Recognition & Tracking in video recording) - Built-in 3.5mm (w/ adaptor) - Noise Suppression - 4.2” FWVGA (854×480) Capacitive display (X.LED multi-touch display, Capacitive multi-touch, 16 Million display colour) - Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n - HDMI (type D) - Compass - Size (125.0 x 62.5 x 8.7-10.9 mm) - Battery: 1500 mAh - OS: Android Gingerbread

There are still a lot of unknowns when it comes to this device, that's for sure. However, we should expect it to be a pretty expensive Android smartphone when released, priced somewhere at around €650, it seems.
