Sega and Gearbox Software have just deployed a few more details about their upcoming Aliens: Colonial Marines project, alongside an actual cover for the game.

Aliens: Colonial Marines has been in development for quite some time, as both Sega, its publisher, and Gearbox Software, its developer, are taking their time to create the best interactive experience based on the film series made by Ridley Scott.

Sadly, while many were finally hoping to see the game this spring, Colonial Marines was delayed by the two companies and is now scheduled to be released this autumn.

In order to make the wait more bearable, Sega has now unveiled an official description for the game, which once again pits colonial marines against the savage Xenomorphs across a variety of locations, from an abandoned ship to a ruined planet.

“Aliens: Colonial Marines begins with an ostensibly abandoned ship, the U.S.S. Sulaco, recovered in orbit around LV-426. Players lead a group of highly trained United States Colonial Marines as they board the deserted craft to uncover the fate of the crew,” Sega said.

“They will have to fight to survive unspeakable horrors and their own anxieties as they chase down the truth behind a galaxy-spanning deception that places humanity at the mercy of the most murderous and deadly species in the universe. Aliens: Colonial Marines features authentic environments, such as the surface of LV-426 and Hadley's Hope, weapons inspired by the film series and is designed to provide an exhilarating and engaging new chapter in the Aliens universe.”

Besides this official description of the main story from the game, Sega has also revealed the actual cover of Aliens: Colonial Marines. The classy box art, which you can enjoy above, depicts a team of colonial marines and the iconic profile of a Xenomorph that has some pretty nasty plans for the unsuspecting humans.

Get ready for Aliens: Colonial Marines’ launch this autumn on the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
