Television and big screen young star Alexis Bledel has just been case in a new indie film that will see her in the role of a hitgirl, part of a killer duo, “Violet and Daisy.”

Bledel is no stranger to the big screen, even if fans are not accustomed to seeing her in this type of roles – which probably makes the casting all the more interesting.

Variety reports her partner in crime (literally in front of the camera) is Saoirse Ronan, while “Sopranos” star James Gandolfini will also appear in the indie production.

The film is helmed by Geoffrey Fletcher, who also handled scribe duties for the big screen adaptation of “Precious,” last year’s critically acclaimed hit.

“Fletcher, who won the adapted screenplay Oscar for ‘Precious,’ is making his directing debut on the indie drama. He’s producing with Bonnie Timmermann, with shooting to start next week in New York,” Variety says.

“The pic is being financed and produced by Magic Violet/GreeneStreet Films. John Penotti of GreeneStreet exec produces and Steve Kempf co-produces,” the same publication says.

As of now, not much is known of the plot, with the film telling the story of two teenage hitgirls who find themselves in an unexpected situation, when their next target turns out to be something else than they thought.

“Bledel’s bigscreen credits include both ‘Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants’ pics and ‘The Conspirator’,” Variety also notes. Fans know and love her also from the “Gilmore Girls” television series.

Speaking of which, a few days ago, Lauren Graham, Bledel’s onscreen mom on the show, told the media that interest was picking up in coming out with a feature film based on the series.

Though in previous interviews she denied all rumors about chances of a film being made, this time she was less determined, saying she would be on board if it ever happened.

“What’s funny to me is that in all these years, no one ever talked about it except the fans,” Graham said.

“But now people with power, people who could actually make it happen, are talking about it,” the actress added, thus fueling speculation that talks of a “Gilmore Girls” feature film were underway.
