It’s unlikely to happen, the actress says

Ever since the 7-season “Gilmore Girls” ended its run in 2007, talk of the possibility of picking the story where it left off and making a feature film has constantly been heard. On that note, whereas creator Amy Sherman recently said she would be open to the idea, one of the main two stars, Lauren Graham, simply can’t see how such a project could be possible, as she recently told EW’s Michael Ausiello.

Speaking of her latest stint on Broadway, as Miss Adelaide in “Guys and Dolls,” the question of whether she would be open for a “Gilmore Girls” feature film also inevitably popped up. However, Graham, who played the charming and unique Lorelai in the series, tells Ausiello that chances of that happening are slim to none at best. It’s not that she wouldn’t do the movie if it was in the making, she says, but that she simply can’t see how anyone in the old crew would be able to get things moving into that direction without spoiling the original series even more.

This is actually not the first time that Graham voices her disapproval of the way the series ended. “[‘Gilmore Girls’] didn’t end in the way I think any of us would have liked – and that is a disappointment for me as well. And a sadness, really. When the reruns come on now I think about the path it took, and it makes me sad. I wish we would have known it was the end when we shot the final episode, quite simply.” Graham tells Ausiello, adding, “But we can’t go back and change that. And I’m not sure a movie would help.”

Nevertheless, fans of the much-acclaimed series can still find some hope in Graham’s words to hold onto, since she does not flatly refuse to consider the idea of turning the mother-daughter story into one suitable for the silver screen. “Mike, ‘Gilmore Girls’ is over. [Laughs] You’ve got to move on. It’s hard. I don’t know what we could give the fans that would satisfy them... I don’t know what the story would be. But as with everything I do in my career, if something comes up that inspires me, then I’ll consider it.” she adds.

Starting this spring, through October, Graham will be appearing on Broadway in “Guys and Dolls.” In the meantime, she will also start work on the pilot for her own ABC comedy, of which the star would only say it involves Mitch Hurwitz (“Arrested Development”) and Alex Herschlag (“Will & Grace”), based on an “idea that’s so wrong it’s right.”
