As we reported back in March, UK-based carrier O2 and Alcatel have reached an agreement to bring the handset maker's entire lineup of phones to customers.

The first mobile phone debuted by the carrier were the One Touch 355 QWERTY and One Touch 708.

Following the agreement, O2 UK has just announced that availability of another Alcatel device, the OT-990.

The OT-990 is now available for purchase from O2 UK for £99.99 on PAYG (pay as you go), which makes it one of the most affordable Android smartphone available in UK, but not quite the cheapest.

Those who want something cheaper can try out the Huawei U8160, also known as Vodafone Smart, which should be available for only £80.

Anyway, Alcatel OT-990 comes with a large 3.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display with 262k colors support and 320 x 480 pixel resolution.

Furthermore, the smartphone sports a 5-megapixel photo snapper with LED flash, auto focus, video recording capabilities, as well as secondary front-facing camera for video calls.

3G+ HSDPA connectivity along with Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g and Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity have been included as well.

The phone packs 200 MB of internal memory, as well as microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space.

According to Alcatel, the OT-990 is equipped with a low-performance 600MHz processor and runs Google's Android 2.2 (Froyo) platform and comes pre-loaded with more than 20 apps.

It appears the smartphone is part of the manufacturer's Get Apps series, thus it will offer preloaded apps and access to various software for increased personalization options.

The phone drains life from a standard 1300mAh Li-Ion battery, which should provide up to 550 hours of standby or up to 6 hours of talk time.

More Alcatel handset are expected to be launched by O2 UK by the end of the year.
