TCL, the Chinese mobile phone maker that sells smartphones internationally under the Alcatel brand, has been rumored lately to plan the release of a new high-end handset called Idol X+, and new reports suggest that the phone will be released on December 26.

We have already had the chance to take a look at some leaked photos with the device, some of them suggesting that it will be accompanied by a smartwatch and a bracelet, but no official confirmation on any of these has been offered as of now.

However, it appears that the phone will become official shortly, and that it will be put up for sale the same day through Jingdong Mail, the Chinese ecommerce website, a recent report on TechnosAmigos reads.

Rumor has it that Alcatel Idol X+ will land on the market with a 5-inch full HD touchscreen display, and that it will be powered by a 1.7GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6592 processor. The mobile CPU, officially announced several weeks ago, is the first 8-core chip capable of using all of its cores at the same time.

The specifications list of the new device is also said to include 2GB of RAM, along with 16GB of internal memory and a 13-megapixel camera on the back. The usual set of connectivity capabilities should also be included in the package.

Furthermore, it is expected to run under the latest flavor of Google’s Android operating system right from the start. It will also feature dual-SIM capabilities.

Should these rumors pan out, TCL / Alcatel will manage to attract a lot of buyers to its side with the new mobile phone, that’s for sure.

However, the Chinese mobile phone maker has yet to officially confirm any of the aforementioned hardware specifications of the device, as well as its availability and pricing. These details should emerge very soon, so stay tuned to learn the news.
