Premium video streaming for Apple’s non-Flash-savvy devices

Adobe Systems Incorporated has announced at the IBC 2011 Conference and Exhibition new releases of of the streaming video solutions Flash Media Server - now at version 4.5, and Flash Access - now at version 3.0.

Flash Media Server 4.5 targets media publishers who wish to extend their mobile reach via Flash-enabled devices.

Everyone knows that Apple’s iOS portables are not capable of running Flash out of the box, but with a little help from Flash Media Server, they will be.

According to Adobe Systems Inc., Flash Media Server 4.5 adds iOS support and enables content owners to create HTTP content on the fly to reduce costs.

Businesses will use the same media and live streams to deliver full adaptive bit-rate experiences to Apple’s iPad and iPhone, just as they would with platforms supporting Flash.

Other key features of Flash Media Server 4.5 include Integrated Content Protection and On-demand Stream Packaging.

As for Adobe Flash Access 3.0, this content protection and monetization solution has been enhanced to deliver on-demand content with massive scale and strict studio-level security across numerous platforms that support Flash Player 11 and Adobe AIR 3 development.

Adobe Flash Access 3.0 sells at per unit CPM pricing whereas Adobe Flash Media Streaming Server 4.5 is available for US$995.
