Adobe has just announced the availability of its PDF creator application for Android devices, CreatePDF. However, the ability to create PDF files directly on an Android device doesn't come cheap at all, as the company priced the application at $9.99.

The application is very easy to use and doesn't require too much technical skill. Simply use the built-in file manager for quick access to all supported files stored on the device and convert to PDF.

There's nothing really incredible about the application, it just does what it says and supports a wide range of files, including MS Word (docx, doc), Excel(xlsx, xls), PowerPoint (pptx, ppt), Adobe Illustrator (ai), Photoshop (psd) and InDesign (indd), RTF, Text and WordPerfect, OpenOffice and StarOffice documents.

In addition, CreatePDF supports image file formats such as JPEG, BMP, PNG, GIF and TIFF.

With this new app, users can create high quality PDF documents that can be viewed consistently across organizational boundaries on multiple screens and platforms," said Anuj Gupta, product manager, Acrobat Solutions.

"This application uses a service to create PDF documents and thus you get the same consistent, high quality PDF files as Adobe Acrobat independent of your device or the software used on the device.

Besides the supported text and image files, CreatePDF can also be used to convert email attachments or files stored on the cloud by opening them in Adobe CreatePDF application from there itself.

The application allows users to convert files from other applications by sending them to Adobe CreatePDF using Android’s Share or Send function.

With the Share function, users will be able to transfer PDF files to other applications, including sending as email attachments.

CreatePDF for Android is available for download via Android Market for $9.99 and is compatible with all devices running Android 2.1 OS or newer.
