Samsung India has just announced the availability of bada 1.2 software update for the S8500 Wave smartphone. The announcement was tweeted by the company's officials a few hours ago.

Indian owners of the original S8500 Wave handset have been waiting for almost six months for the update that will bring them T9 Trace keyboard, as well as several important performance improvements and bug fixes.

Those who have been patient enough and didn't manually flash a leaked buggy version of the update onto their S8500 Wave devices can rejoice as the official update is now available for download through Samsung Kies software.

Although bada 1.2 was released along with Samsung's S8530 Wave II in November 2010, the Korean handset manufacturer is yet to update all its earlier generation smartphones such as the S8500 Wave.

Apparently Samsung hasn't released a changelog for the software update, but S8500 Wave users who flashed the official bada 1.2 update reported consistent improvements to the browser, as well as to the memory management.

The latter means that users will be able to open multiple application without receiving the infamous 'not enough resources close some applications' error message.

Furthermore, it is unclear if the .pdf reader related bug that prevented users to open files larger than 15MB has been corrected.

Another useful change is the ability to make calls, send texts or open apps even when the smartphone is connected with the PC.

It is also worth mentioning that the phone will also come with Yahoo! search widget pre-installed, the phone will now boot a bit faster. Samsung's devs also did small cosmetic changes to clock application and the Stopwatch now has 'lap' and 'split' functions.

While most of the European countries have already been blessed with bada 1.2, there are S8500 Wave users who are still waiting for the software update.
