They say one of the things that make Adam Lambert unlike any other pop / glam rock star – incredible talent and good looks aside – is his ability to make each performance different from those in the past. This would explain why the album version of a track is completely different from the live version – and his recent performance on American Idol certainly cemented this belief, as Rock Star can confirm.

As we also reported on a couple of past occasions, this week was Adam’s week on the show, mentoring the contestants and then, in true AI fashion, taking to the stage to show them how it’s done – literally. For the result’s night, last year’s runner-up chose his latest single off the debut album “For Your Entertainment,” “Whataya Want from Me,” and brought down the house.

“Glam singer Adam Lambert took to the stage of American Idol on television last night, bringing with him a flashy shot of smoke and green lasers. The Idol star performed a different version of his Canadian Double-Platinum hit single Whataya Want From Me. The performance started off much slower and elusive than the original recording, but then picked up in the middle. At one point it looked like Fox was unprepared for the onslaught of smoke and lasers, which at times appeared to fill the entire stage area, making Lambert hidden through the mist,” Rock Star says. Even after Adam was done performing, visibility was still reduced because of the smoke.

“Whataya Want From Me has become the television staple that Lambert has used during most of his TV performances, but this one was the most unique of them all. It also marked the first time lasers were used on an American Idol stage. After Wednesday’s performance, Lambert sat down with AI host Ryan Seacrest and revealed that his summer tour, called Glam Nation, will be a sight to see. He plans on going into rehearsals after he’s done with the International promotional trips for his album,” the same music-oriented publication further says.

If one is to judge by the recent American Idol performance, Adam’s upcoming tour will undoubtedly be a sight to see. Until then, though, below is the video. With no further ado, enjoy.
