The market of tablet PCs is expected to increase greatly within the next few years, and Acer is one of the companies aimed at taking full advantage of this, especially with two Android-based slates set to land on specs next year.

Yesterday, the company unveiled officially two tablet PC devices that would land on shelves with Google's Android operating system on board, one boasting a 7-inch touchscreen display, while the other includes a 10.1-inch screen.

Of course, Acer is not the first company to bring to the market a tablet PC with a 7-inch display that runs under Android, as others already made the move, including Samsung, or ViewSonic.

However, the computer maker promises a mobile experience as none before with the new slate, courtesy of a 7″ (1280×800) 16:10 aspect ratio full touch screen, and a fast 1.2 GHz dual core processor inside.

The specifications list of this device also includes a front-facing HD camera for video chat, 5 megapixel rear-facing camera, HDMI support, Dolby Mobile Technology, DLNA support, or Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity.

According to Acer, users would also enjoy fast web browsing, with Adobe Flash Player 10.1 support, as well as great multimedia playback capabilities.

As for the new 10.1-inch Android slate, it boasts Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity options, along with a full capacitive touch screen, HD entertainment features with support for online 3D games, and more.

“Aluminum casing provides a cool look and feel, while its high gloss finish decorated with engraved patterns creates a subtle sophistication. And despite being just 13.3mm thick, it’s powerful enough to guarantee fun and productivity whether you need it,” Acer notes.

The specifications list of this device includes a 1GHz processor, 5-megapixel camera, a built-in HDMI port and 1080p capabilities, 10 point multitouch and gyro meter control, or a high color contrast display.

Acer also unveiled plans to have the two Android-based tablet PCs, along with a 4.8-inch smartphone running under Google's Android operating system, launched on the market in April next year. Unfortunately, no info on the OS version they would run under was unveiled.
