The ETA is still set for next month, June 2013, but most info is now out

One thing about 8-inch tablets is that they don't actually have a set customer base, not like the considerably better known 7-inch and 10.1-inch types. This might be the reason why companies feel more at ease with experimenting on them.

That is to say, tablet makers more readily test out the viability and appeal of less ordinary hardware-software combinations on them.

At least this is one impression that can be drawn from the current landscape on the slate industry.

As we learned previously, the Acer Iconia W3 tablet, which happens to be scheduled for June 4 release, runs Windows 8 Pro on the Atom Z2670 central processing unit.

The reason this product once again popped up is the appearance of its product page on the official company website.

For those who don't know, the Atom Z2760 is a dual-core processor with a clock frequency of 1.8 GHz.

On the Iconia W3, the chip is backed by 2 GB of DDR3 RAM (random access memory).

Between the two of them, the 8.10-inch WXGA multitouch display (1280 x 768 pixels) has everything it needs to operate properly. The Clover Trail CPU does, after all, possess integrated GMA 3650 graphics.

That said, the tablet also gets up to 64 GB of storage space, as well as all the basic connectivity features (USB 2.0, microHDMI output, Wi-Fi) and some not so basic (Bluetooth 4.0).

Add to that the 2 megapixel camera at the back and the list is more or less complete.

Only the detachable keyboard dock is left, and this one is interesting because it is wider than the tablet, with full-size keys.

When sales start in June, the Iconia W3 will have either 32 GB (W3-810-27602G03nsw) or 64 GB (W3-810-27602G06nsw). The latter's price is unknown, but the former is believed to carry a tag of $379.99 / €289.76–379.99, based on previous findings.
