The slate runs Microsoft's Windows 8 operating system

Acer did say it saw no value in Windows RT, which means that if it is going to release slates with Windows, it is going to use the x86 version of Windows 8, nothing else. This leads us to this newest rumor.

The Acer Iconia W3-810 tablet surfaced on Amazon very briefly last week. We imagine it was a slip of some sort, or perhaps a controlled leak, since the page was taken down quickly.

Whichever the case may be, the product was online long enough for the technical details to propagate across the Internet.

Now, a follow-up rumor has been published, coming from [email protected] and MiniMachines.net.

The report confirms the launch date: Acer's Iconia W3-810 tablet will be officially unleashed on June 4.

That's just ahead of Computex Taipei, which can be both good and bad. After all, the product may score the attention it wants by preceding the CPU releases planned by Intel and AMD, or be lost in the ensuing whirlwind of product unveilings.

Regardless, Denis Kutnikov, general director of Acer's Russian office, said that the tablet would debut on June 4, so that's what we are relaying.

For anyone seeking a rundown of the specifications, the Iconia W3 is an 8.1-inch tablet with a display resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels.

The hardware is run by a dual-core 1.8 GHz Intel Atom Z2670 CPU (x86, hence the Windows 8 OS), backed by 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of native storage.

Two cameras are included, one at the back and one at the front. Both of them are of 2 megapixels. A departure from the regular tablet schema, where the one at the back is more powerful than the other one.

Other specs include a microSD memory card slot, WiFi, and a battery that should last for up to 8 hours without needing a recharge. The price will be of $379.99 / €289.76–379.99.
