Acer may have finally chosen a CEO, but it hadn't made overly many management changes to support the new direction it chose, but it looks like things are now moving, with a new Corporate president being decided upon.

The whole point of the leadership changes that so abruptly started happening to Acer was so that a new business direction could be established.

In other words, the previous CEOs did not have mobile-related strategies that sat well with the board of directors.

That said, this soon became another case of the tablet casing disruptions on the IT market, though Acer seems to be getting over the hurdles now that a new CEO was chosen.

Speaking of moving on, a new piece of information has now arisen, one that reveals that a new Corporate President has been decided upon as well.

More specifically, the new Touch Business Group (Touch BG) and PC Global Operations (PCGO) will be led by Jim Wong.

Not long ago, Acer predicted that its PC shipments would continue falling, to the point where the total drop for the second quarter would be of 10% or more.

The outfit is now intent on developing tablets and smartphones while reorganizing the PC business, overall focusing on product and technology value instead of shipment volumes.

Meanwhile, new executive positions have become available, those being Chief Marketing Office, Chief Technology Office and Operational Analysis Office.

No doubt the outfit wants to start seeing results as quickly as possible, although its long-term strategy will probably be very carefully thought out as well.

Either way, just what this will lead to might start to become visible by the time Computex comes around.

“The IT industry is encountering a profound change. I foresee many new opportunities and am ready to face the challenges ahead,” said Wong.

“I will encourage teamwork throughout the company and work closely with the new management team. We are ready with a clear set of goals and action plans.”
