Computer vendor Acer announced earlier this year that it planned on releasing on the market a number of mobile phones powered by Microsoft's Windows Mobile operating system, and that they should surface sometime before the end of 2009, yet it seems that we might have to wait a little longer before that actually happens.

According to the latest news on the Web, the company stated recently that its smartphones wouldn't make it to the US until next year, due to some problems with the mobile phone carriers in the country, although it seems that the company's head of the smartphone division, Aymar de Lencquesaing, is reported to have a lot of experience in the US already.

As many of you might already remember, the company unveiled at the Mobile World Congress 2009 held in Barcelona back in February no less than four new mobile phones running under the Windows Mobile platform, while also announcing that they should become available for users in the US before the holiday season of 2009.

Shortly after the MWC announcement, Acer unveiled more new devices, and among them we were able to spot the Acer F1, which includes a Qualcomm 1GHz Snapdragon processor, while also boasting a 5-megapixel photo snapper and a large screen coupled with a thick body. At the same time, it will also include support for MediaFLO, as well as the Acer Suite 2.0, and is reported to be able to play HD content.

In addition, we should also mention that the company already launched some of its phones in Singapore, and while the dual-SIM DX900, the dual-faced DX650 and the compact X960 are already available for purchase in the country, two more devices are expected to follow them on that market in the near future, namely F900 and M900, announced for May, while three more, the F1, L1 and C1, should land before the end of the year.
