In the first half of the year, Nvidia challenged the high end graphic cards market with its GeForce 7800 GTX and GT products. ATI attempted for revenge announcing the Radeon X1800 XT and XL cards that also feature high performance GPUs (Graphic Processing Unit).

As the company claims, ATI's anticipated Radeon X1800 XT has the fastest graphic processor in the world, which offers the highest level of 3D performance and image quality. Another good news is that the news GPU began shipping ahead of schedule, from the 3rd of November.

Radeon X1800 features a ultra-threaded 3D architecture and ATI's technology called Avivo, which is a video and display technology platform that gives new possibilities of increased performance to gamers. ATI Radeon X1800 series are the first commercially made boards using the 90 nanometers technology and also has one of the most complex GPU, containing over 320 millions transistors.

X1800 XT runs at 625 Mhz and accesses the memory at 1.5 GHz; it also has two memory versions, 256 MB and 512 MB. The 256 MB version is priced at 499 USD and the 512 MB - at 549 USD. Company officials said ATI has already shipped thousands of X1800s to stores all over the world.
