Today, Apple’s new iPad became available for purchase in the United States and in other countries around the world.

The new tablet PC was released both via Apple’s own retailer channels, as well as through partner carriers in these countries, including AT&T and Verizon in the US.

At these carriers, the new device offers support for LTE connectivity, which means increased download speeds and better browsing performance than before.

Both AT&T and Verizon are selling the new iPad with Wi-Fi and 4G in three different flavors, depending on the internal memory users would like to have inside their devices, namely 16GB, 32GB or 64GB.

At AT&T, the new device is offered with prices starting at $629.99 for the 16GB model, going up to $729.99 for the 32GB model, and $829.99 for the 64GB model.

On Verizon’s network, the tablet PC features the same price tag. According to Big Red, however, users will benefit from a few other goodies as well when choosing the device on its network.

For example, they will be able to enjoy mobile hotspot capabilities on the device, while also having an expanded 4G LTE network coverage when compared to what AT&T has to offer.

“203 cities. 122 major airports. Covering more than 200 million Americans. That's the 4G LTE network you want for your new iPad. And it's backward compatible with our 3G network. So you have the best of both worlds at your fingertips,” Verizon notes.

Depending on the network they choose to go with, new iPad users will also benefit from different monthly costs for their data plans. AT&T, for example, asks $14.99 per month for 250MB of data. Users will also be able to go for a $30 per month plan for 3GB of data, or to select a $50 plan that includes 5GB of data. No long-term commitment is required for these.

At Verizon, the tablet PC is available with 1GB of data per month for $20, 2GB for $30, 5GB for $50, or 10GB of monthly data for $80. Users will also be able to go for monthly plans for this device, starting at $30 for 2GB of data.
