AT&T has just revealed a new 4G-enabled Android smartphone, which is expected to hit shelves on September 18, the Impulse 4G.

Manufactured by Huawei, Impulse 4G will be available for just $29.99 with a new two-year contract at all AT&T stores, online, as well as select national retailers.

The carrier recommends customers to pair the Impulse 4G with a Data Plus plan, with 200 MB of data, which is available for only $15.

One of the cheapest 4G smartphones available from AT&T, the Impulse 4G is also the first Huawei smartphone offered by the carrier.

These days we’re all looking for ways to get the most for our money and the Impulse 4G from AT&T does exactly that. The Impulse 4G gives consumers another option to enjoy the benefits of a smartphone at an exceptional value,” said Jeff Bradley, senior vice president, Devices, AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets.

Previously rumored as Samsung Impulse 4G, the smartphone comes with a generous 3.8-inch WVGA capacitive touchscreen and Wi-Fi connectivity that provides users access to AT&T’s hotspots.

Furthermore, the handset features the ability to record HD video thanks to its 5-megapixel camera with auto-focus and LED flash.

No word on the phone's processor yet, but we assume that the Impulse 4G is equipped with a 800MHz / 1GHz processor.

This is an important milestone for Huawei. As we introduce our first smart phone for AT&T, we believe the Impulse 4G will allow consumers to experience the best of AT&T’s applications. We are committed to working with AT&T to create influential devices that will provide user-friendly mobile experiences,” said Cui Jiangao, President of Huawei Device USA.

Huawei Impulse 4G is powered by Android 2.2 Froyo operating system, which is not so bad if we take into consideration the phone's low price.

However, it is highly unlikely that the Chinese handset maker will bother with a Gingerbread update for the Impulse 4G.
