Yesterday, at the UBS 37th Annual Global Media and Communications Conference, AT&T announced that the number of U-verse TV subscribers had reached the two-million mark. AT&T offers IPTV through its U-verse platform across 22 markets in the United States.

Also, the launch of the new AT&T U-verse High Speed Internet Max Turbo was announced yesterday. Max Turbo can reach broadband speeds of up to 24 Mbps downstream and 3 Mbps upstream, making this new service the fastest Internet package available on the market. This service is available for consumers and small businesses in San Antonio, St. Louis and Austin markets for now, but the company plans to introduce Max Turbo to other U-verse markets in the future.

“This has been an outstanding year for U-verse, and we’re glad that customers are responding to the value, choice and simplicity we’re adding to this service,” Ralph de la Vega, chief executive officer of AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets, said. “Customers love that they can get a complete and integrated quad-play of services with U-verse, and that’s why we continue to enhance our entire bundle with new apps and more broadband choices. We’ve shown what we can do with our advanced IP platform, and we’re not done yet.”

With the promotional offers available at this moment, residential customers can have Max Turbo for $65 per month as a part of the U-verse TV package, while business customers will have to pay $95 per month, installations or upgrades being free of charge. According to AT&T, “New residential U-verse customers who bundle U-verse TV (U200 or higher), U-verse Internet (Pro or higher) with Wireless 450 (or higher) or U-verse Voice Unlimited will receive $200 back.”

In 2009, AT&T managed to increase its U-verse customer portfolio with over one million new subscribers mainly by performing massive network enhancements, increasing the broadband speeds and adding new applications. Some of the improvements added by AT&T U-verse include:

- Adding 13 U-verse TV apps to the existing ones, including Multiview and Santa Tracker. - Introducing 25 High-Definition channels bringing the total to over 110 HD channels in the U-verse markets. - Launching Max Turbo, thus increasing broadband speeds with up to 20 percent. - The Total Home DVR, which allows users to have remote access for the iPhone, enabling easy management of DVR recordings.
