On Tuesday, wireless carrier AT&T announced the launch of a new software solution for the iPhone, namely the AT&T Connect Mobile Conferencing App. According to the company, the solution is expected to prove a great option for those always on the go, who need the option of taking audio and web conference meetings on their mobile devices.

The new software comes with multiple conferencing products in a single communication (UC) application, including audio conferencing, web conferencing and video conferencing. “Converging communications technologies are driving business demand for integrated voice, web and video conferencing services, to reduce costs and speed decisions, delivered by a provider that can create global solutions at scale,” said Ron Spears, president and CEO of AT&T Business Solutions.

Depending on connectivity, the application can offer features and functionalities like view whiteboard, Call Me and Dial In (meant to simplify audio setup), interactive participants list, or emoticons. Moreover, one can alert others when stepping in or out of the conference, or can use notes to chat with participants. Answering polls, hosting events or inviting others to join an event are additional features of the new application.

“Collaboration across a broad sweep of individuals – employees, suppliers and partners, as well as across geographic and organizational boundaries – is a daily necessity. AT&T is bringing its Unified Communications capabilities to integrate voice, email, messaging and web conferencing in business apps that drive the productivity of businesses regionally, nationally and globally,” Spears added.

Those iPhone users on AT&T's network willing to try out the new AT&T Connect Mobile App should find it available for download for free from the App Store on their iPhone. The software solution can be downloaded via iTunes too. Those who will install the application will notice that they can join an AT&T Connect meeting via a single click from an online calendar or email invitation.
