Today, wireless carrier AT&T announced a series of enhancements brought to its mobile broadband network, with the expansion of coverage in Selmer, offering access to advanced mobile services for more users.

According to the company, the new launch would provide customers in the area with the possibility to enjoy better devices, as well as feature-rich audio and video content.

The mobile phone carrier also announced that the launch also included the update of a number of nine cell sites in McNairy County.

”This 3G service covering Selmer will keep our residents connected and assist with our economic development efforts,” said Sen. Dolores Gresham.

“Everyone wants faster broadband access and this announcement will make that possible for many McNairy County families and businesses.”

AT&T, one of the largest wireless carriers in the United States, provides its users with appealing services on the mobile broadband network, accompanying them with great devices and applications.

The wireless carrier's network is based on the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) family of technologies which includes GSM and UMTS.

AT&T also offers great international coverage. Its customers can enjoy voice services in a number of 220 countries, along with data services in a number of 200 countries.

“Wireless broadband services are increasingly important for economic development, for quality of life and for security of our citizens,” said Rep. Vance Dennis.

“In an economy where cities across the country are competing to attract companies to invest and grow in their communities, this gives Selmer another step up on many of our competitors.”

The carrier's network is backed by the largest Wi-Fi network in the United States, with over 23,000 hotspots in the country, which was recently enhanced to offer connectivity to more users.

“Most AT&T smartphone customers get access to our entire national Wi-Fi network at no additional cost, and Wi-Fi usage doesn’t count against customers’ monthly data plans,” the company announced.
