Wireless carrier AT&T announced recently a series of network enhancements it has performed in the Texarkana area. According to the company, the improvements include the addition of wireless spectrum in the 850 MHz band, and are expected to result in better 3G wireless connectivity, performance and enhanced in-building wireless coverage. Moreover, the improvements also include the addition of more network capacity, so as to meet the demand for 3G mobile broadband service.

The high-quality 850 MHz spectrum, AT&T states, is usually meant to deliver better indoor coverage, and improved service quality and coverage throughout Texarkana is expected to be experienced through the new enhancements. At the same time, the carrier also notes that an increase in traffic has been seen in all areas where the new spectrum has been deployed, although the actual connectivity experience will vary by location.

“Continued investment in technology like this is a sign that the Texarkana region has a strong economic future” said State Representative Steve Harrelson. “I’m committed to working for more investment and projects such as this to help attract new jobs to the area.” Steve Gray, vice president and general manager for AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets, added: “Our goal is pretty simple: we want you to have an extraordinary experience when you make a call, check e-mail, download a song or video, or surf the Internet on your AT&T device.”

AT&T also announced that it is continuing to invest in network enhancements so as to offer more benefits to smartphones and mobile broadband customers. The carrier has seen a great addition of customers lately and it already announced a few times before that it had seen the highest volume of smartphone data traffic on its network registered by any other carrier in the US.

“More than ever before, customers look to wireless communications to stay in touch with family, friends and business colleagues,” said Ed Drilling, president of AT&T Arkansas. “The additional spectrum helps to enhance the 3G network and is another way AT&T is driving to deliver a first-class wireless voice and data experience for our customers.”
