Wireless carrier AT&T announced recently that it added a series of new devices into its ultra-portable, ultra-connected offering, including the Samsung Go and Acer Aspire One, both of them running under the newly launched operating system from Microsoft, Windows 7. According to the company, the new devices are expected to offer a great deal of new features to its users, including connectivity to its 3G network, and access to the largest Wi-Fi network in the U.S.

AT&T also revealed that its lineup of mobile broadband-enabled netbooks was expected to become available for purchase via its stores and online on its website, later during the ongoing month. At the same time, the company also reported that the new Samsung Go Netbook and Acer Aspire One would be priced at $199, upon the signing of a two-year service agreement and after a mail-in rebate via an AT&T Promotion Card.

“Demand for netbooks remains strong among consumers, small business customers and those who desire constant access to the Internet while on the go,” said David Haight, vice president, Product Development, AT&T emerging devices. “Paired with the nation’s fastest 3G network, AT&T Wi-Fi service, and now the value and ease of use of Windows 7, these devices will make very attractive and affordable gifts this holiday season."

The new devices come with 10-inch screens and with a weight lower than 3 pounds. Those who would like to snag one of the new netbooks should know that a two-year AT&T DataConnect plan is required (one can choose to pay $35 per month for 200MB, or $60 per month for 5GB). The new Samsung Go Netbook comes with an Intel Atom Processor and a 160 GB hard drive, along with 1GB of memory and a 1.3 megapixel web camera. The Acer Aspire One sports an Intel Atom processor, a 160 GB hard drive and 1GB of memory, as well as three USB 2.0 ports, built-in webcam, and a video conferencing feature.

Microsoft is excited that AT&T and its customers are choosing Windows 7 on netbook PCs because it helps simplify tasks, works the way customers want, and makes new things possible,” said James DeBragga, general manager of Windows Consumer Product Marketing at Microsoft. “By pairing Windows 7-based netbook PCs with AT&T’s 3G service, AT&T customers now have easy access to the ultimate companion PC. It is a small, yet fully featured computer that helps them work efficiently, enjoy rich entertainment and experience the Web virtually anywhere they go. We look forward to supporting AT&T in its efforts.”
