ASUS has been recently revealed to be working on multiple mobile computers, such as the Eee PC 1001PX netbook and a pair of USB 3.0 laptops. Now, the hardware and PC supplier seems to be gearing up to launch yet another mobile computing product, namely a convertible tablet known as the Eee PC T101MT. Like all devices of this type, the netbook/slate hybrid seeks to strike a good balance of performance, mobility and versatility. As such, it packs decent specifications inside a lightweight package of 1.3kg.

The ASUS Eee PC T101MT was first introduced back in mid-February. Like most netbooks, it is based on the Intel pine Trail platform and is powered by an Intel Atom N450 central processing unit, with a clock of 1.6 GHz. This chip is backed up by up to 2GB RAM, a hard disk drive with up to 320GB of storage and the Intel GMA 3150 integrated graphics.

The configuration also includes 10/100 Ethernet, 802.11n WiFi, Bluetooth, a 0.3-megapixel webcam, three USB ports, Hi-Definition Audio, integrated speakers, a VGA output and an SDHC card reader.

The main two assets of the convertible tablet are its display and touch input. The 10.1-inch screen has a maximum resolution of 1,024 x 600 pixels and boasts resistive touchscreen capabilities, which can also reproduce handwriting inputs (either by finger or stylus) thanks to the 256-level pressure sensor. In addition, the product features a multi-gesture touchpad.

The ASUS Eee PC T101MT convertible touchscreen tablet is kept alive by a 35Wh Slim and Eco-friendly Li-polymer battery that can last for up to 6.5 hours. It has already been listed, with a price tag of $499 Euro, but reports indicate that actual shipments won't begin until early April. Fortunately, that is just a few days away, which means end-users won't have to wait for too long.
