Gaming just isn't what it used to be, as new technologies that have recently been launched on the consumer market will provide users with a new gaming experience, directly from their personal computer system. Such is the case with NVIDIA's 3D Vision, a solution aimed at users looking to enhance their visual experience by taking advantage of the chip maker's 3D product. On that note, ASUS has announced today the official debut of its new G51J gaming notebook, designed to enable NVIDIA's 3D Vision solution on a portable computer system, featuring a 15.6-inch 120Hz display.

“We are extremely excited about bringing the first NVIDIA 3D Vision notebook to market,” said PC Wang, Corporate Vice President & General Manager, Notebook Business Unit, System Business Group at ASUS. “NVIDIA and ASUS have a passion for gaming and cutting-edge technology, and this is another example of how great companies working together can deliver awesome new platforms to our combined customers.”

The new laptop from ASUS, that initially surfaced on the Internet earlier this month, packs an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M graphics chip, featuring 1GB of DDR3 memory and powering the NVIDIA 3D Vision solution. The laptop's 15.6-inch display is rated at 120Hz and is paired with the USB IR blaster and the shutter glasses, a combined solution that we had the pleasure of testing a while back, on a desktop computer system.

Designed for gaming, the new ASUS G51J notebook will make good use of the 3D Vision support that has been enabled in over 400 PC games, including Resident Evil 5, Borderlands, World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King, Batman: Arkham Asylum, and Star Trek D-A-C. Due out in the upcoming weeks, the laptop will be priced at a starting US$1,700.

With the announcement of the new ASUS notebook, NVIDIA also took the opportunity to talk about the company's strategy for its 3D Vision, which includes a close collaboration with display manufacturers, such as CPT, LG, CMO, and Samsung. This only means that more 3D solutions should be made available in the near future and people will have some choices regarding their preferred systems.
