XFX may no longer be making NVIDIA graphics adapters, but it is definitely not slacking as far as AMD boards go, as proven by how it created its own Radeon HD 6970 model, though not all is known about it.

Those end-users that have been paying attention to the IT market as of late will likely have noticed that several AMD Radeon HD 6970 graphics cards have been released.

Gigabyte, MSI, HIS and others have already made their move, some even as far back as January, and it seems XFX now wants users to have an even greater selection of options.

One of the first things that can be noticed about the XFX Radeon HD 6970 is that it has two 6-pin PCI Express power connectors instead of just one like, say, PowerColor's version.

This may hint at higher GPU and memory clocks that the stock ones, although there is no way to be sure, since they have yet to be revealed.

For those that want a reminder, the original has the Barts graphics processing unit working at 840 MHz and the 1 GB of GDDR5 memory set at 4,200 MHz.

Still, there are elements that did not change, like the 800 Stream processors, the memory interface of 256 bits and multiple video connectors.

To be more specific, the card comes with HDMI, dual mini DisplayPort connectors and dual-DVI outputs.

As for the cooling solutions, it is a dual-slot component which boasts two fans and four copper heatpipes.

No price was given, the XFX Radeon DH 6970 should manage to appeal to overclockers.

After all, even if no factory overclocking is implemented, the two power connectors ensure that users can tweak the clock speeds themselves, although it will fall to them to make sure they don't overstress the cooling capabilities of the cooling mechanism.
