As we've mentioned in several of our posts on this topic, the war in the graphics cards' segment seemed to have really heated up lately, but even if NVIDIA did push out the door the “world's fastest DX11 card”, its future is still uncertain, at least if we take a look at what AMD seems to have in store for Q1, 2011, in terms of GPUs targeting the desktop computer segment.

So, as Engadget reports, AMD has made official during its recent financial analyst day the 2011 roadmap for its Radeon HD graphics processing units, which, as far as we're concerned, provides relatively little surprises (there are quite a lot of things we already knew or suspected on this matter).

As you can see for yourselves from the slide we've attached to this article, Q1, 2011 will be a very busy period for the red team, AMD being slated to push out not only the ultra high-range HD 6690 graphics card (which we really expect to be a record-breaker), but also two other models built on the “Turks” and “Caicos” platforms.

Unfortunately, for the time being, no official specs have been provided yet, at least as far as the last two GPUs mentioned above are concerned, but if you're curious to find out more about the HD 6970, you can check out the leaked photo and some extra info here.

Also, the slide sadly stops at Q1, so there's still no way of knowing whether the rumor regarding the possible launch of the Radeon HD 7000 Southern Islands in Q2 2011 is confirmed or not. It's interesting to note that the HD 6970 and 6950 (HD 6900 series) are still slated for release in Q4, 2010 (which, incidentally, is drawing to an end pretty fast, with only roughly 7 weeks remaining before the year's end), meaning that we should expect some pretty exciting surprises coming from AMD in the near future.
