AEG Power Solutions has just announced that the company will refresh its popular Protect 8 family of products with new models that are destined to be installed in industrial environments including onshore & offshore oil and gas installations, energy & electricity generation and distribution as well as water treatment and instrumentation plants.

The new Protect 8 models that AEG plans to release provide three-phase AC current and their power rating ranges from10 to 120kVA, depending on the models chosen.

In addition, the units can output a maximum 522A and their voltage distortion is lower than 3%.

However, the operation parameters can be controlled according to the customer's needs as the Protect 8 UPS feature a modular design which can be customized by AEG and then controlled via an open communications platform.

“In designing the Protect 8, we built upon the know-how and technology developed for the Protect 5 UPS family to achieve even-higher levels of availability, reliability, and manufacturing standards to serve our industry” said Mohammed Aggabi, the AC Protect Family Line manager at AEG Power Solutions speaking from Belecke, Germany.

“The Protect 8 UPS range is called a ‘customer-ized’ solution. This means that, thanks to our innovative building-block architecture and ‘Fit to Specification’ concept, each customer gets precisely what they are looking for, in terms of mechanical design, input and output voltages, electrical features, communication protocols, battery type, autonomy, and desired documentation in a shorter delivery lead time.

“Additionally the ’Building Block‘ will enable easy and rapid maintenance as any module can quickly be replaced if necessary,” he added.

No details regarding availability have been made public by the company until now, but the new three-phase Perfect 8 UPS products will be showcased at the 2011 Hannover Messe fair.
