Acer has just announced the highly-anticipated new Aspire One netbook, coming to provide the company's fans with a larger 10-inch display, for an enhanced viewing experience. The company's new netbook will also boast Microsoft's Windows XP operating system, an integrated Bluetooth and an overall design that will allow it to enable a fast and simple working experience, according to the PC vendor.

As expected, the new 10-inch version of Acer's Aspire One netbook, comes built on Intel's Atom platform, combining the Mobile Intel 945GSE Express Chipset and an Intel Atom processor. According to Acer, the new system can also be featured with a Mobile Intel 820801GBM chipset and provide support for a maximum of 2GB of DDR2 memory. Other specifications include a 160GB internal hard drive, a multi-in-one card reader, 802.11b/g Wireless connectivity and a weight of 1.18kg.

“Despite the recent problems of the financial markets and general economic uncertainty, the netbook and notebook markets will continue to grow in 2009” said Gianfranco Lanci, president & CEO, Acer Inc. “With companies focused on containing the crisis, consumers and products designed for them become more important as users simply cannot do without their personal communication instruments.”

Equipped with a 10.1-inch WSVGA LED backlit display, the new Aspire One netbook can output a maximum resolution of 1024 by 600 pixels, offering a broader visual experience. In addition, the netbook can support a user's choice for an embedded WiMAX or 3G wireless technology, thus providing users with a wider range of connectivity options.

The new 10-inch Acer Aspire One has also been designed to provide support for 6-cell Li-Ion battery, which Acer guarantees to provide users with up to 7 hours of battery life. Additionally the netbook will be shipped with preinstalled software, including Acer eRecovery Management, Acer Launch Manager, Adobe Reader, McAfee Internet Security Suite, Microsoft Office Trial 2007.

Acer is yet to provide details regarding the netbook's pricing and availability. Also, there's no mention of the company phasing out its current 8.9-inch Aspire One, as it has been rumored recently.
