Acer's Aspire One netbook, one of the most successful products last year, has been designed as a 9-inch, ultra-portable PC that takes advantage of Intel's Atom processor, much like other systems of its kind on the market. However, unlike its competitors, Acer hasn't released any 10-inch Aspire One models, despite a series of rumors pointing in that direction. On that note, according to a recent news-article on Digitimes, the PC vendor is expected to launch its first 10-inch netbook as early as February, this year. The estimated price tag is expected to fall at US$399 and the netbook will be manufactured by Compal Electronics.

There aren't any precise details regarding the technical specifications of Acer's upcoming netbook, but according to the same Digitimes report, the company will be offering its new 10-inch small-sized, low-cost, portable system with three color choices. Users will be able to choose from black, red and white, when the netbook will be launched in February.

Prior to the debut of the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Nevada, rumors that Acer was going to showcase its 10-inch netbook surfaced the Internet. According to an Acer Aspire One fan-blog, macles*, the PC vendor was planning to unveil a new 10-inch netbook that would be featured with a single DIMM memory slot, for a maximum memory capacity of 2GB. The system's display could provide a resolution of 1024 by 600 pixels, the same as in the company's first Aspire One netbook. Bluetooth 2.0 and 3G connectivity are going to be provided as optional features.

The Aspire One with a 10-inch display has allegedly been pictured, with photos of the three available models being posted on the aforementioned blog site. In addition, according to other rumored specifications, the netbook's keyboard has been somewhat modified, now boasting a brushed metal finish around it. The touchpad currently resembles a traditional one, with the mouse buttons featured on the bottom side of the touchpad.
