In recent months, Demi Lovato has been keeping a very low profile, focusing on her treatment at the in-patient facility she’s at and spending the little time she has free with her family. That’s not to say, though, that she’s forgotten her fans.

At the recent People’s Choice Awards 2011, Demi won an accolade for Favorite TV Guest Star for her cameo on “Grey’s Anatomy.”

She didn’t want fans to believe she forgot or paid no attention to that (the winners are voted by the public), so she issued a statement to show them just how grateful she is for their support, People notes.

In the statement, Demi thanks fans for standing by her through good and worse, but especially the latter, now that she’s taking some time off to deal with personal issues.

She also uses the opportunity to thank the same fans for voting for her in the aforementioned category and helping her win the award.

“I wish to thank all the friends and fans who voted for me for the People’s Choice Awards and the Hot Hits Hottest Teen Stars of 2010,” a post on the Disney star’s official Facebook page reads.

“I want to make sure my fans know how thankful I am for all their love, support and prayers during this difficult time. Thank you for standing beside me through it all,” Lovato (or someone from her camp) adds.

As we also noted on several previous occasions, Lovato went to rehab to seek treatment for issues that her rep described as the same she’s been battling ever since she was a teen.

Since then, the only contact fans have had with her has been through her publicist, who was repeatedly forced to deny rumors about leaked videos and photos, and allegations of drug use.

At the same time, a former backup dancer, believed to have been at the root of Demi’s realization she needed specialized help for her problems, whatever their nature, threatened to sue her for a physical altercation that landed her in hospital.
