Is it just possible that EA went a little too far with the character models?

Some of you FIFA fans out there might be asking "what's up with EA's latest FIFA Street and those caricatured players?" Well, not answering your question much, the renowned publisher and developer of sports video games has rolled out some screens to give us an even closer look at the strange in-game counterparts of Ronaldinho and Kaka (for example).

FIFA Street 3 has been confirmed for a worldwide release sometime during next year, for three major platforms today: PS3, Xbox 360 and Nintendo DS. As even newcomers will notice, FIFA street 3 is somewhat different than other games in the series, adding a touch of humor to the gameplay experience, as each player has been rendered into a stylized caricature with heroic qualities. Although the game's description fits the Wii-fun-title profile perfectly, the original report confirming FIFA Street 3's existence (in development) didn't mention Nintendo's console, but just Sony's and Microsoft's. So here are some facts about FIFA Street 3:

- it features over 250 of the world's best players representing 18 of the top international teams

- each player has been rendered into a stylized caricature, boasting their own, distinctive style of play with unique abilities, decked out in authentic training kits.

- you'll have Tricksters, Enforcers, Playmakers and Finishers to choose from and handle different options with them

- pulsating surroundings: music is seamlessly infused into the surroundings and, as players perform their tricks and sensational moves, the environments pulsate (it probably looks and feels a lot like Def Jam Icon)

Another good thing is that EA is using the same engine as they did in NBA STREET Homecourt, for developing FIFA Street, combined with the AI from FIFA Soccer 08 and ultimately delivering responsive and intuitive ball control that makes it easier to perform tricks and spectacular moves.

The DS version of FIFA Street 3 was confirmed just days ago, featuring an intuitive Touch Screen control system using the stylus that enables you to easily perform over-the-top trick moves, passes and shots. All three versions will be released simultaneously. Check out the pictures below, and leave an impression within the comments column if you wish.
