Chinese rule WoW

By the looks of it, Blizzard is doing extremely well. As you know, their biggest asset is the MMORPG World of Warcraft. This thing is getting bigger and bigger by the day, and you won't be surprised if in a year or so it reaches 20 million users. But that day hasn't arrived, yet, Blizzard now has "only" 8 million users.

You can see that the largest number of WoW subscribers is in China, almost 3.5 million freaks. Next is North America, with no more than 2 million World of Warcraft enthusiasts and Europe with 1.5 million subscribers. The rest, up to 8 million can be found in other territories (Australia, Africa and the rest). If you are a World of Warcraft player, you probably know that the WoW subscription costs about 15 bucks per month. Do the math and be amazed by how much Blizzard makes each month.

"We're ecstatic that the World of Warcraft community has continued to grow steadily since we launched the game. This milestone wouldn't have been possible for us to achieve without the incredible support of our players" said Blizzard president and co-founder Mike Morhaine. I would be ecstatic too if I were swimming in money like Blizzard.

You could say that Blizzard is the gaming world's drug dealer. Just think: does WoW cause addiction? Do you need to pay for a new "fix" every month? Does it make you drift away from your normal life, your family and friends?
