Speculation at its finest

You know that eBay auctions can go a little bit out of hand, and this is also the case with the collector's edition of Burning Crusade, the upcoming expansion for World of Warcraft. It's probably the most sought after item since the PS3 was hot property, as you can get one for three times its original price.

This WoW add-on is yet to be released, but pre-orders have been sold out for quite some time. Now, with its release date getting closer and closer (January the 16th), some want to make some money off "poor" MMORPG players.

If you try to go online and find a copy of Burning Crusade Collector's Edition, the only place you can even dream of getting one is eBay. The auction website is filled with offers, some cheaper, some more expensive. The most expensive Burning Crusade you can find goes for US$ 222.50 plus shipping, and if you consider a US$ 20-30 shipping tax you could say that Burning Crusade is more expensive than a Nintendo Wii, consoles that retails for 250 bucks (if you get it from the store).

A copy of Burning Crusade Collector's Edition should cost US$ 69.99, and it should include the Art of the Burning Crusade book, two WoW trading card packs with three exclusive packs, a behind the scenes DVD, the soundtrack, an exclusive in-game pet and a mouse pad. It's not that bad for 70 bucks, but for 250...

Given the fact that there are 7.5 million World of Warcraft subscribers, you might consider this expansion pack hot property; so if you have one, this is your chance to make some speculative cash.
