The Gamer's Edition of the well-known Guiness World Records book has a new and very interesting feat to show off. On June 15, in Stockholm, Bjorn "Threat" Pers managed to get the record for “most kills in Counter-Strike (Valve, 2003) in 12 hours” with 518. The record will be included in the 2010 version of the Gamer's Edition, which is set to arrive next spring.

Bjorn "Threat" Pers said that “I wanted to make this record hard to break in the future so, although my first goal was 300 rounds, I finally went for 500 rounds in total. By the end of the attempt I was exhausted and my body was very tired. It was worth it, becoming a part of the Guinness World Records Gamer’s Edition is something every gamer dreams about.”

The organizers of the event lauded the new record holder as “one of the most skilled aimers we have encountered. I think we have a great record here that will be extremely hard to beat.”

It's interesting for Counter Strike fans to take a look at the conditions for the record, which will also be used for all other attempts to break it.

Counter Strike was played on the QPAD AIM map, the time window was 12 hours, the rules said that the first player to reach ten won the match and met the next challenger, the player with the most rounds during 12 hours had to beat a total of 518 kills, in-game settings could be modified, visual parity was provided by making sure that both sides used the same skin (Counter Terrorist), no scripts were allowed and mouse setting were not changeable.

Immediately after the end of the record attempt, Guiness needs to see footage of the whole play period to make sure that the rules were not broken and then a commission can begin to log in the attempt.
