Big plans for the famous rapper

Different branches of the entertainment industry are slowly but surely starting to merge into one single entity, thus blurring the lines between each other. This is especially true with gaming as it has seen the influence of both the music and movie industry segments manifest in the way developers and publishers create and promote various titles.

But now it seems that famous US rapper 50 Cent wants to completely merge these branches of entertainment into one single all-encompassing project, as he just stated in a recent interview that he might make a movie based on THQ's open world gang-based shooter series Saints Row.

The famous rapper has declared that he is currently optioning the rights for the film project and, with any luck, we will be able to see the game from the famous rapper's view. “With my relationship with THQ, they'll actually see me develop Saint's Row into an actual screeplay and into a film project. I'm optioning the rights for that right now, so they'll see that before they see me do it from my own perspective for my game.”

This isn't 50 Cent's first interaction with the gaming industry, as he already has two games under his belt, the first one being 50 Cent: Bulletproof and the most recent one just released, entitled 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand, placing the famous rapper and his entourage, the G-Unit, in search of a diamond skull through a Middle Eastern country. Moreover, the rapper, Curtis Jackson by his real name, has also made a movie based on his early years, Get Rich or Die Tryin', and has already starred in other films.

While the prospect of another game-based movie might seem like the last thing that gamers would want, the fact that the rapper was a member of a lot of New York gangs before his career sky-rocketed might bring a unique insight into street life. But as the movie is still in the project phase, don't expect to see anything concrete just yet.
