It looks like what we said a few days ago won't hold up

Just before the end of the month of July 2013, I wrote about the odd difference between the variety of 2-in-1 mobile devices and expected shipment levels.

Now I find out that the disparity may turn out to be even sharper than I previously thought.

Hybrid tablets and notebooks (basically, any tablet/notebook-like device that doesn't qualify as a tablet, notebook or ultrabook) are now believed to be traveling a very slow and droughty path.

According to this report, despite Intel's attempts to get partners sold on 2-in-1 projects, its designs won't see any good shipments this year.

Even with IFA 2013 scheduled for September, it is believed that the hybrids won't have meaningful shipment levels before the first quarter of 2014.

Of course, this is just the opinion of vendors and ODMs, based on minor demand from consumers. Conditions may change sooner.
