The enthusiasm of hybrid developers may work against them

Intel has been heavily promoting 2-in-1 notebook/tablet convertible devices, and its many partners have been happily doing their best to make such things.

Unfortunately, this may come to bite them in the behind sooner rather than later.

Reports have raised the possibility that a large wave of 2-in-1 product releases could overwhelm the market in the second half of 2013.

We've already got one or 2 hybrid laptops/tablets from every brand vendor. These products came out after Microsoft released Windows 8.

That most 2-in-1 electronics are premium products, priced at over $1,000 / €1,000, doesn't help their case much.

Overall, while hybrids have full support from brand vendors and the supply chain, their position on the market is confusing, and their high prices are scaring off customers.

That's why sales probably won't be all that great. Unless IFA 2013 brings along some low-cost models, we won't see much.
