Computer maker Dell has just lowered the price tag at which the Dell Streak tablet PC was available from the company's website when purchased with a contract agreement. The 5-inch slate is now on sale on the company's website for $99.99 upon committing to a new service agreement with wireless carrier AT&T in the United States.

The price applies to the 16GB Dell Streak model, though the cost of the 32GB versions have enjoyed a price cut as well, now being available for $198.99 with an AT&T contract.

The off-contract cost for this device remains the same, namely $399.99 for the 16GB model, and $498.99 for the 32GB flavor.

The new contract price tag is in line with what Best Buy has been offering for the past several weeks for the Dell Streak, and follows another price cut that Dell performed for the device, when it brought the 16GB red and black Streaks to $199.99 with a new contract agreement with AT&T.

Those enthusiasts interested in the purchase of a new Dell Streak would certainly see these price cuts as being very appealing, even though they apply only to the contract offerings for the device.

However, these price reductions also signal the close release of the Dell Streak's successor, which was announced officially at the CES 2011 show in Las Vegas last week, the 7-inch Dell Streak 7.

The larger tablet PC from Dell should become available for purchase in the United States in the near future with support for T-Mobile's network.

As for the older handset, rumor has it that it might see a new successor in the coming months, one that might sport the same form factor as the currently available Dell Streak, though with upgraded hardware specifications.

Rumors on the possible near availability of two new flavors of the Dell Streak emerged a while ago, but nothing was confirmed on the availability of the upgraded Streak.

Those who would like to purchase the Dell Streak with the new price tags attached to it should head over to Dell's website here.
